Along Dagoretti Road, near Dagoretti Road – Mai Mahiu Junction
Alfred's guests — assemble at Makuti Gardens by 10:00 AM. We leave together as one entourage at 11:30 AM sharp. Do not go directly to the venue.

Getting to the Venue

Both routes join Dagoretti Road. Follow the arrow road markings at the junction to Martha's home.

From Limuru Town, take the Limuru-Mutarakwa road until you arrive at the Mai Mahiu – Narok Road. At that junction, take a right turn, and after about 100 metres, turn left to join Dagoretti Road. Follow that road, and to know you are on the right route, these are the places you might spot along the way:

  • Makuti Gardens (Alfred's entourage stopover)
  • Nderu shopping centre
  • Buroti/Boroti shopping centre
  • Thigio shopping centre
  • Uthiru Genesis School

After a hundred metres from Uthiru Genesis School Thigio, turn right at Ararat Butchery and follow the road markings to Martha's home.

From Kikuyu Town, pass Shell, Texas, & The Boardroom and after turn right to join Kikuyu-Ondiri Road. Travel for about 1km, passing the first junction, and at the next junction take a left to join Kamangu-Ng'amba-Kikuyu Road. Drive for about 8km to get to Kamangu Shopping Centre. At that junction, turn right to join Dagoretti Road, and drive for about 3km, passing Kamangu Gardens and Breeze Petrol Station, after which you should see Ararat Butchery. At that point, turn left and follow the road markings to Martha's home.

Important — Dagoretti Road Junction

When along Dagoretti Road, heading to Martha's Family Home, look out for Ararat Butchery. Take the junction marked with arrow signs at that point. Google Maps may suggest different routes or turns to take — ignore them. All incorrect junctions will have road markings indicating they are not the route. Only the correct junction will have arrows pointing the way.

Road Safety Tips
Speed Cameras: Know the Zones

NTSA doesn’t publish exact camera coordinates, but these are the widely known monitored corridors along the way:

  • Nairobi–Nakuru Highway: Speed enforcement is active through the Naivasha stretch, with posted “Speed Enforcement Section” signage. Watch your speed particularly through Rironi, Naivasha, and Nakuru.
  • Nyeri–Nairobi Highway (particularly from Kenol–Thika and along Thika Road): One of the most heavily monitored roads in the country. Known camera zones include Safari Park, the Jomoko/Thika Road turnoff, Allsops–GSU HQ stretch, Pangani/Muthaiga Interchange, and Roysambu/TRM. Limits shift often: 110km/h in open sections, dropping to 50km/h through Thika, Montezuma, Kenol, Makuyu, Sagana, and Karatina.
  • Mombasa Road (Syokimau → CBD) & Southern Bypass: Watch your speed from Nyayo Stadium through Sameer Business Park, and around Cabanas approaching JKIA, all posted at 80km/h. The Southern Bypass has active monitoring near the Virtual Weighbridge (Kikuyu side) and the Ngong Road Interchange.
  • Local roads (Limuru & Kikuyu routes to Kamangu): No confirmed camera coverage reported, but these are narrower rural roads — drive to conditions, not just the limit.

We recommend downloading Waze for live traffic, hazard alerts, and community-reported updates along your route (petrol stations, bumps, traffic cops, etc).

What Traffic Police Typically Check

If you’re stopped at a checkpoint, have these ready:

  • A valid driving licence: carrying the physical copy is strongly advised.
  • Vehicle roadworthiness: valid inspection sticker, functioning lights, tyres in good condition.
  • Seatbelts worn by all occupants.
  • Valid insurance certificate.
  • A warning triangle, fire extinguisher, first aid kit, and the like.

Kamangu enjoys a warmer climate than Limuru to the north or Kikuyu to the east, with gentle warm winds drifting in from the Ngong’ area to the south and Kajiado to the west. Still, plan your outfit accordingly. Check back as the 25th approaches for the most accurate forecast.

We thought you might ask.

  • Coming from Kikuyu, board a Limuru-bound matatu that specifically passes through Kamangu town and alight at Ha Koinange, which is about 3 kilometres from Kamangu shopping centre.
  • Coming from Limuru, board a Kamangu-bound matatu, and alight at Ha Koinange, which is about 100 metres after Uthiru Genesis School – Thigio branch.

Ndeiya is fully tarmacked all the way. There is only a short stretch of approximately 400 metres of corrugated road close to the venue, nothing that should worry any vehicle.

There will be sufficient roadside parking along a non-busy road. Parking guides will be on hand to direct you and will double up as a security team for the day.

There will be designated sides for Alfred's family and Martha's family. Guides on the day will direct you to the appropriate side when you arrive.

Unfortunately there will be no live stream for this event. We hope to see you in person, but if you cannot make it, we will carry you in our hearts on the day.

The Tradition

The ruracio is not just a ceremony. It is the foundation of a Kikuyu marriage, the moment two families formally become one, sealed not just by love but by covenant, obligation, and community.

We are following the way as advised by our elders. Every Kikuyu clan does things their own way, and that is as it should be. We share these resources not as the definitive guide, but as an invitation to understand and appreciate a tradition that has carried our people for generations. We hope to pass it down to our children.

Tradition is not the past. It is the thread that connects us to those who came before and those who will come after. Christ tells us to render unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's, and unto God the things that are God's. In the same spirit, we render unto our culture what belongs to our culture, and unto God what belongs to God. Both matter. Neither replaces the other.
